In seriousness, Miller recently released a beautiful, emotionally charged music video for “Sunshine”, a song that pays tribute to his late friend, Dylan Andrew Schopp. When Miller got the phone call that his close childhood friend had died by suicide, he said “I went straight home, grabbed my guitar, went outside and wrote the whole song from start to finish, and the next day I got into the studio and recorded it.” With encouragement from Dylan’s parents, he released “Sunshine”, titled after Dylan’s nickname because he was always happy and smiling. Miller released the video to help raise awareness during National Suicide Prevention Week. He teamed up with Jed Foundation’s Love Is Louder and MTV in hopes of helping people like Dylan, and also the people that care about them. “I want you to take away from this video and from the song that things will always get better; you never have to end your life,” Miller said. “There are so many people that care about you and will be affected by that decision. I think if Dylan knew how many people would be affected by what he did, I’m not sure if he still would have done it. I hope he wouldn’t have done it.” Miller reached out to Dylan’s family and friends to join in the music video, filmed in their hometown. The video includes personal videos from Dylan’s life and includes his family and friends celebration of his life with lanterns being released into the sunset.
